New: Overhead 1090 for Mac
Overhead 1090 adds a native Mac app, free for existing owners, with a menu-bar recorder and a searchable logbook of every plane your receiver has heard.
- Menu-bar recorder. Logs every aircraft in the background, window open or not. Recording resumes after sleep, or the app can keep a desktop Mac awake to record around the clock.
- Logbook. Search every flight by flight number, registration (N-number), type, operator, squawk or date, and sort any column.
- Almanac. Your sky by week, month or year: how many aircraft, the busiest hours, who flies over, how far you hear. Prints as a poster.
- Alerts and a watchlist. Notifications for emergency squawks, military, low passes, rare types and new airframes, plus a watchlist by registration, callsign or type.
- Desktop widgets. A radar scope, the closest aircraft, the count right now and the latest notice.
- Several receivers and locations. Merge receivers into one picture, with each location kept separately.
About the app
Flight-tracking websites show you an aggregated feed from someone else's network. Overhead 1090 shows the sky above your antenna: it connects directly to the receiver in your house and draws what it hears, the moment it is broadcast. On iPhone and iPad it is a live map, traffic list, sightings feed and logbook; on Apple TV it is a big board across the room; on iPhone Duo it adapts to the closed, half-folded and open positions.
